Dudhsagar, a popular trekking destination, is also a great choice. It is also home to one of India’s most stunning waterfalls, and it’s a must-see while visiting Goa.
This is the best way to go on an adventurous trek. We will assist you with information if we can walk for 5-6 hours, which isn’t too difficult. You have two options to begin a trek. We can either start our trek from the Kulem railway station, which is the most comfortable for Mumbai and Pune residents, or we can begin our trek from Castlerock railway station which is the most convenient for Bangalore citizens.
Location
The Laxman River, which flows from the western ghats, feeds this waterfall. It is found in the Kodagu district, Karnataka state of India. Named after River Dudh Sagar, the falls translate to “Sea of Milk”.
It is approximately 60 kilometers from Panaji via road.
Follow the road to Topsi from Joshimath. Turn left onto Nainital Road after about 2km. Continue on this road for about 30km, then turn right onto NH 128/Kapasan Rd. Turn left onto NH 204/ NH 67 after 6km. Continue on this road for approximately 2km to reach a T-junction. Take a right to reach Dudhsagar Falls Trailhead.
Dudhsagar trek
One of India’s most loved treks is the Dudhsagar waterfall trek. You can do it by anyone, and you will enjoy the natural beauty of this place.
They are located on the Mandovi River, which was named for them. The locals call the area “Doodh Sagar”, which means “milk torrent”. Three waterfalls are responsible for creating the Dudhsagar Falls: “Anshi”, “Vasuki”, and “Dudhsagar”.
Dudhsagar waterfall trek
The Dudhsagar waterfall trek can be found in Uttarakhand’s Eastern Ghats. It is one of India’s most popular treks. It takes approximately 8-10 hours to hike and begins at Dudh Sagar Lake. The hike winds through dense forest to reach the waterfall base, where you can take a dip in the clear water. This area is best visited between April and June when the temperatures are moderate and there is less rain. You can take the train from Dehradun or Lucknow to reach the trailhead.
The trail begins with a steep climb to reach the waterfalls of Bhagwan Mahaveer sanctuary, which is located within Dudhsagar waterfalls. Follow the pipeline from Rongva village to Kabila point, passing beautiful valleys and lush green mountains with clear tumbling streams.
Enjoy a boat ride on Kabila Dam to see the Dudhsagar Water Falls. They jump into the deep valley right in front of us, then crash into rocky walls, and dance for approximately 10 kilometers until joining other falls at Shencottai Ramtekeli, Triveni, and finally ending at Triveni Falls. You can also trek for 20 minutes from here to Kalayat Panchayat, which will bring you back to Rongva via Gundarna Ghat.
Trekking to Dudhsagar waterfalls is a wonderful crevoy, rich in deep forests and species diversity. This trek takes you to some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the Western Ghats. The waterfalls are covered in greenery, and they flow at a height of 1250 to 1700 meters.

The trek takes three to six days depending on how long we want to spend in each village and at the viewpoints, and the views of the mountains around.
It is challenging terrain. We will walk uphill most of it, but there are plenty of sections where we could walk downhill or on a gentle slope.
It can get very cold at night, so be sure to bring enough warm clothes.
It’s not recommended that pregnant women or people with medical conditions go on the hike. The hike is extremely strenuous and difficult.
